12 Hours Of Good News

Good news item #1 came at 9:00 AM. The nurse that was inserting Asher’s PICC Line told us that there was a real good chance that he could be transfered as early as Thursday or Friday. The case worker at the hospital had spoken with our insurance contact who said that they would fully support a transfer as soon as possible (Since we are out of network right now, I would imagine that they’d like to get him back in network ASAP). Luckily, Andrea and I have a real good friend who works in the life/health business that assisted with that as well.

Good news item #2 came around 2:00 PM when we talked with our nurse who said the PICC Line procedure went without a hitch. They had to put it in through his head as opposed to his arm or leg because he had been pricked pretty bad in those areas. The head is actually the better place for it to go from Asher’s perspective as it is not as annoying and is a much closer access point — it just looks bad and requires a hair cut to do so.

Good news item #3 came at 6:00 PM during my last visitation of the evening. The nurse indicated that Ash had received 3 feedings since the PIIC Line procedure. In order to feed him, they had to insert a tube down his throat which is a little uncomfortable, but it the only way to do it (I have to keep reminding myself that he is only 30 weeks old).

Good news #4 came at 9:00 PM. I wanted to spend some time with Jade so Andrea and her mom went over to say goodnight to Ash. When Andrea came back, she told me that she was able to give him a “bath” and to hold him again. Its funny how little victories always seem bigger during stressful situations.

We are slowly feeling more positive about the situation and hope things continue upward, although we know that anything can change. We are hoping to have more positive news to share with you on Wednesday.

    Andrea & CJ,
Quietly my thoughts and support have been very much with you, as I check for updates each day. A warm & tender congratulations on Asher’s arrival (the best vacation “souvenier” ever!). My prayer is that the stress will, each day, give way to much more excitement and relief with each bit of progress. We look forward to having you home soon, and are sending warm hugs and comfort in the meantime via continued prayers and the very best wishes for all of you! Take care and know that you are close at heart.
