Andy here. CJ and Andrea are doing great.
Here some stats for you:
- 10:02 (maybe 10:04 pm) on Friday, May 16th, 2008 at Hilton Head Medical Center on Hilton Head Island, SC
- 4lbs 9.7oz
- 16″ Long
Here is Asher’s first video. For being two months early, he’s huge!!!
They will be moving Asher tomorrow to Charleston for 3-4 weeks. Andrea will stay in the hospital until probably Sunday. Her mother is on her way down to Hilton Head. CJ is probably going to stay with Andrea for a week or so. I (Andy) will be going back to Atlanta sometime next week, but then will be in Charleston from Friday to the following Saturday. We are going to figure out the rest later.
That’s all we know now. Thanks for all the prayer and support.

CJ & Andrea & Jadyn: Just wanting you to know–you guys are in our prayers constantly. Little Asher looks like a fighter. Andrea I’ll pray you’ll heal quickly because I think that little guy will keep you running–he’s already proven that he’s off to a quick start–
Hang in there– and if you need anything– (I mean anything) at all– please let us help. Love, Aunt Laurie & Uncle Steve

Congratulations on that new little baby boy. We were all on pins and needles last night until we heard that he was here and we are still very concerned for him. But we have a wonderful God and I have faith that things will turn out okay. And rest assured that my prayers are ongoing for all of you. I know things are pretty hectic now but hang in there.
I hope that all of you will get a good night’s rest tonight after a rough night last night. And tomorrow that you will get to be reunited with Asher James as a family. I’m so glad that Andy was there with you since none of the rest of us were able to be of any help.
I will be looking forward to the time that I get to see that little one. Wow–I got two new great grandbabies in less than a week. Michelle and Kennedy seem to be doing great. Today is Michelle’s birthday. One week apart like Andrea’s and Asher’s.
Take care and know that I love all of you.

Amazing! I talked to Cassandra today and she filled me in. Praise the Lord Asher is doing well considering. I’ll be praying for those little lungs to grow strong and quickly! You are all amazing and we will be remembering you in our prayers. I wish there was something we could do, so let us know if you need anything. Terra Rowley

Thank you all for your comments and prayers. It has been a long couple of days, but it makes it easier knowing we have friends and family back home praying for us.

CJ and Andrea,
I have to admit, as I watched this little video, I almost started crying. Watching Asher’s chest cave in as he breathed reminded me of what Malachi looked like as he struggled to breath. Hearing the soft pant reminded me of what Ruth sounded like as she began to struggle to breath. Rachel and I want you to know that we love you guys and are keeping you in our prayers. Our hearts ache for you as you as we know how helpless the hospital scene makes you feel sometimes especially when your own child is in it. Finally, as much as you can enjoy your son. Enjoy the little things. The little progress. Cling to those as hope in time when you really are scared. Know that we welcome a call at any time if you just need someone to yell at or cry with.

Glad to know that Andrea and Asher are doing well. When we heard on Monday that Asher decided to make an early arrival, Shirley and I prayed for you. Both Eric and Katy (our youngest two) were premees. Nothing can prepare you for that although I will tell you that when Katy was born and I went into the neonatal ICU and remembered all the nurses and docs, it made it a whole lot easier.
We are trying to do our best to stand in for you while you take care of business. Pretty big shoes to fill but we’re trying. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help up here (ie. helping with the house, lawn etc.)
