Small Step Forward

Today was a very good day for Andrea and Asher. Andrea was able to hold her little boy for the very first time. It was fun to watch her with him. I could see the stress and worry disappear as the two of them took a nap together. Asher is now breathing on his own and doing pretty well with that. Tomorrow, the doctor plans on inserting a tube into a larger vein near the heart. This procedure does come with some risk, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives. I will try to keep you all posted throughout the day.

Becca told me the news and forwarded your blog information so I could stay in touch. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and continued strength and growth for Asher. He is a real cutie. I look forward to meeting him in person soon. Love to you all…

If I’m understanding you correctly, Asher is receiving a central line is sounds like. So, will they give him nutritional IV fluid through this or what do they plan to use this for. If you remember, that is what Malachi had for the first year of his life. We took care of it at home and everything. Your right the benefits are necessary but risk is still there. You are continually in our thoughts and prayers.

    Andrea and CJ,
I wanted to let you know that we prayed for your family and sweet baby at morning ladies bible study. I printed out the couple pages of info so that those without daily internet could be up to speed. Even in black and white ink Asher looks pretty sweet.

Margi and Heather - thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Chris - yes, it is a central/picc line (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PICC_line). It actually was inserted in through his head but I was just told it was inserted successfully!

Wait, I stand corrected. The PICC line is different than the central line, which is now out…

CJ and Andrea, Sorry it has taken so long, I just received a voicemail from Bec today about Asher’s birth. I know he’s early but he is absolutely beautiful! We had our weekly bible study tonight and I shared your story so now you know of even more prayers for you both and Asher. Andrea, I’d love to hear about all his little fingers and toes so I will try to reach you over the phone soon. Love you all…

Just blog hopping and noticed your prayer request on ragamuffinsoul’s site. As I read some of your blogs tears started running down my face - my little girl, who is now 4 years old, was born at 31 weeks. I will never forget the fight she gave to make it out of the NICU and the nights I stayed up praying for her when I could not be there. God gave her strength she still has today - a spunky little girl my Weatherly is :)! I will pray for Asher, you, your wife and your daughter.
