Vacation Road Trip - Part Deux
By CJ Mills on May 19, 2008 in andrea, asher
For those of you who do not keep up on my twitter posts, Andy provided a pretty good summary of the day’s events here. We were finally able to reunite with out little fighter where we were told by his doctors and nurses that he is doing extremely well. They have been slowly taking him off the ventilator with hopes of letting him try breathing on his own tonight. Let’s hope we get some good news in the morning when we go in to see him again. There is a possibility (small, but one nonetheless) that he could be transported closer to home if he can handle the breathing on his own.
Andrea and I are extremely exhausted, both mentally and physically, but have been energized by the 800+ daily visitors to my blog and the many e-mails, blog comments, twitter “tweets”, facebook messages and more from you all. As Marvin said an an e-mail to me earlier today, our lives have been “heading in the direction of a book.” I’m looking forward to compiling all the great stories of friends and family reaching out in a huge way.
Below are some better photos of Andrea and Ash at the NNICU in Charleston. For those of you who want to stay updated by e-mail, click here to subscribe to my blog where you will receive an e-mail each night with my updated posts. You can also subscribe in an feed reader by clicking here. I will also continue to provide short burst of info via my twitter feed which can be found on the right of this page (”what i am up to” section).

CJ- I was waiting to write to you. I can’t really find great words to tell you how much my heart hurts for you both. You are an amazing husband to my best friend and even more amazing as a father.
As everyone I am praying for you, Andrea, Jadyn, and your beautiful son Asher.
Please let me know what you need.

CJ,
I am so glad that you are all able to stay close to Asher. What a support you have for one another while being many miles from home. If you need anything, just let me know. I would love to help. In the meantime, I’ll keep praying.

CJ,
I am so happy that you and Andrea are with Asher. It’s hard not being there to see my first grandson but the pictures help. Thank-you for them. Please give Asher a kiss for me and let him know his Grandma is praying for him and his Mommy and Daddy. We love you so much and are so proud of the man, husband and father you have become. Can’t wait to see you all. Please give Jadyn a hug from us. Love you, Mom

Hey guys - I thought I would share with you that we were praying for all of you last night at dinner and when we finished Jarin starting share all of the things he is going to teach Asher. For example: how to sleep, how to play, how to eat like a big boy, etc. I hope this brings a smile to your face as you think about how much Jarin loves Asher - even though he has only met him through pictures. On a serious note please know we love you guys and are praying for you around the clock. Please tell Jadyn that Lexi and Jarin said hi and that they miss her. Love you all, Kelly

As I was doing by Bible Study today I ran across a few verses that I hope will bring you some encouragement. Phil.4:4-7 says “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” A couple other verses are 1 Peter 5:6-7, Job 42:1-2 and Psalm 145: 17-18. I am so excited to hear that Asher is off the breathing support and doing much better. It just goes to show that God does hear our prayers and loves all that he creates. Miracles really do happen!
Love you all,
Kelly

It was so good to see a picture of Andrea with Asher! I am glad to hear that progress is being made and that your little boy IS a fighter! (Not surprising, knowing his parents!) Our sermon yesterday was from Mark where Jesus was on his way to Jairus’ house to heal his daughter when he was detained by the unclean woman who reached out and touched the hem of His garment. It caused a small delay in the journey to Jairus’ home but Jesus worked an even mightier miracle in his life due to that delay. Our pastor explained that sometimes God allows delays in our lives so that even bigger miracles can happen. It makes me excited as I anticipate what miracles God has in mind for your family after this delay in South Carolina!!!! I can’t wait to see how God continues to reveal His power and peace through the life of your little boy! Hope today is filled with small wonders for you!
Love to each of you!

He is so beautiful…I’m so glad you are able to be near him and touch him and I’m praying that you can hold him in your arms soon. I love you both (and of course Jadyn too) and I wish the drive from Fort Meade to S.C. was a little closer so I could come be with you. I’m praying for all of you and your little man. Love you!
