Goodbye Jade, Hello Empty Nest

My wife was supposed to travel to Florida with her family yesterday for another week at the beach. That obviously can’t happen with Asher in the hospital, but we decided to send Jadyn anyways. She has handled this situation so well and has been pretty understanding as her parents spend so much time with Asher each night. This will give her some time away from the crazy schedule we continually exist in and allow her to spend some time with her two cousins.

This is the first time Jadyn has been away from home without us. I know she’ll do just fine and is looking forward to it.  In fact, this is the conversation I had with Jade this morning proves just that:

Jadyn - “Going to work today, Dad?”
Me - “Yup, Babe, I’m going to work.”
Jadyn - “I’m going to the beach today.”

The photo above was taken during Jadyn’s trip to the zoo this week. My parents bought a membership so they could spoil their granddaughter during the summer — it’s working…

When Andrea took that picture, she told Jade, say hi to Daddy! Jade looked around and asked where you were…then Andrea said Daddy’s in the camera. It was so funny. :)

Jade and I also had a nice little spill on the hammock in the Indonesian Rainforest…Good times…
