No Dice - Asher Not Coming Home Today
By CJ Mills on Jun 18, 2008 in asher, stress
I’ll try to give you all a better run down of what happened between yesterday’s post and this one, but for now, I’ll gt straight to the point - Asher ain’t coming home (always wanted to use that word in a post).
Only a few hours away from being officially released (after we stayed overnight in the hospital with him, “pretending” like we were home with him), his temp started diving. Right now, the NICU staff is running blood work to see what’s up and have him placed in a warmer (which is what he was put in when he was first born - a big step backwards). Andrea is there with him while I’m at home with Jadyn.
Obviously, this is not what we had planned for today so we are a little frustrated. Let’s hope the tests come back with some positive answers and this is only a slight detour on the road home.

I am standing in agreement that this is only a minor delay. I recieve that, and am so thankful that this delay is short. Father God come, come down and warm sweet Asher so that he may be home with his family. In Jesus’ Mighty Name - Amen!!!!

Dude, you and I should be used to plans not turning out the way we originally thought they would, right?
We’re praying for you guys and Asher. I can’t wait to see this little guy one day that we’ve spent so much time praying for.

@Scott @Israel - thanks for the prayers guys
@Brad - you are exactly right. Time to truly expect the unexpected. But when the unexpected becomes the expected, is it really the unexpected any more????
@Clayton - thanks for the assurance. Good to hear it from a guy that was recently in my shoes…

I understand your frustrations. I pray it is a mild stepback and that God guide the MDs and RNs. I also pray for you and your wife, it is so hard on all of you. May God give you peace and Asher strength.

We will be praying for your little guy and his health stabilizing so he can be home soon. I am sure it is hard to have the delay when you were so ready to have him home, but God is good and He will bring peace and resolution soon! We will also pray for you two as you are going through this and wanting the best for your little son.

My heart just dropped when I read your entry–I know how disappointing it is–but bringing home and staying home with a healthy baby is important. I’m sure this is just a little delay–but hard, nevertheless. Hang in there. Keeping all of you in our prayers. Love, Aunt Laurie

@Brooke @Nikki - thanks for your prayers
@Tina - thanks for the prayers, Tina. Hope your little guy is doing well!
@Laurie - you do have some experience to draw upon when it comes to extended hospital stays. I guess this means Grandma’s trip to see Asher is delayed a little while longer…

Wow! This is a true testament that God’s will does not always match up with ours. Atleast we have the faith to know that God has a reason for this delay and has Asher’s well being in mind. I am so sorry that you are back on the roller coaster. We will continue to prayer for you and Andrea, having a baby is stressful enough but dealing with the highs and lows must really be draining. Please tell Andrea I’m thinking of her and will be praying for her. Say hi to Jadyn for us, we really miss having her around. We can’t wait to show you the video from vaction, watching her interacting with Lexi and Jarin was priceless. Hopefully next time we will all be able to go together. Take care.
Love to you all,
Kelly

@Kelly - you a right, and that is something that I often times struggle with…I hate not being in control of things… Thanks for all your efforts last week in managing Jadyn while we attending to Asher.
@tam - Asher turned a month old last Friday. He was born two months early, so we have to continually remind ourselves that he is still a month early even now…

Hey, just so you know this happens a lot. I know that is nothing you want to hear, but we see it a lot in the hospital. Sometimes, he just needs a couple more days getting adjusted to maintaining his temperature on his own!
I’m praying for you that the blood work etc. comes back ok. I know you guys have gone through so much- and if we can do anything to ease the stress on you all- let us know! I have been there before, and I know every little bit helps- so don’t be afraid to ask for help! Keep us updated! We are praying for you all!

@Grandma (Velma) - Asher was looking forward to seeing you as well! Glad you were able to get him up on your wall already.
@Rachel - thanks for the encouragement!
