Happy Birthday Asher?
By CJ Mills on Jul 14, 2008 in asher, friends

Today was Asher’s schedule C-Section date. Its pretty crazy to think that in just a few days, Asher will be two months old. Time does really fly. It feels like only yesterday that we were driving between hospital and home, scarfing down fast food on the way so we could spend the entire evening with him. We aren’t completly out of the water yet as Asher’s monitor continues to go off at night, but we feel good about his progress.

Unfortunately, there is another family out there that has not had the same kinda of luck as we have had with Asher. I met Adam and Karen and their son Gavin through a mutual blogging friend. Gavin has Mitochondrial Disorder, and was transported to the hospital due to a spike in fever. Adam and Karen have a beautiful little girl as well. Adam is spending the night in the Ronald McDonald house tonight with his little girl while Karen sleeps in the hospital with Gavin. Adam and Karen’s attitude regarding this whole situation really put things into perspective for me as we struggled with the spot we were in with Asher. Please take some time to check out Gavin’s blog and pray for the Owens.

it never ceases to amaze me how God will take us through the valley so we can walk with someone else through theirs.

That’s what I love about blogs. They really mess me up (in a good way).
I read blogs like yours and I’m just amazed at God’s answer to prayer. I’m so excited to hear that Asher is continuing to grow and develop. Talk about crazy, today was your scheduled c-section? Wow. God is awesome.
And then I read blogs like Adam & Karen’s and my heart breaks. I wish I knew why God heals one child and allows another family to go through such hell and heartache. And then I wonder why God allowed us to have two healthy little girls?
I’m thankful that God allows and welcomes our questions. I’m thankful that He is so much bigger than our fragile human minds and will give us answers one day. In His time.

@Tyler » Well said, friend.
@Adam » I’ve been in your shoes before and know how important it is to be constantly reminded that people are thinking about you and your family.
@Brad » Thanks for being honest, Brad, and sharing your thoughts. It is easy to question God, much harder to wait for an answer….

I woke up this morning and looked on my calendar because I knew I had a meeting (just didn’t know when). On my calendar has “Asher James Birthday” - guess I should move that - but it still caused me to be like hmmm….he’s just suppose to be alive today! Crazy!
See you in a couple weeks dude!
