My Night Tonight

Jadyn screaming “I want to go to Cassanda’s house”
Asher crying, farting, crying….
Jadyn crying and screaming “I don’t want to go to bed”…
Asher crying, while eating…then just eating, then spitting up and crying again…
Jadyn quiets…
Me trying to put Asher to bed, only to have him screaming at me…
Me entering into Jadyn’s room, telling Andrea Asher is broken…
All is quiet in the house…
Jadyn enters Asher’s room, while Andrea is feeding him…
Jadyn begins to make noise in Asher’s room…
Me telling Jadyn she needs to go to bed…
Jadyn starts balling again…
Andrea gets Asher to sleep and then tries to get Jadyn to sleep…
Jadyn starts screaming again…
Me going to store to get milk (we were out) for Jade to calm her down…
Me coming back, Asher screaming….
Andrea calms him down again….
Things I’ve learned tonight:
- I’m even more impatient than I thought
- My wife is even more patient that I thought
- Being a single Dad scares the crap out of me.

Just wondering if Jadyn threw in any “I want to go to Aly’s house” screams. Seriously, is this what I have to look forward too?? Maybe you better tell me again how great it is being a parent.

Sounds kinda like juggling flaming torches, when you have never juggled before. But the important thing was, you got through it.

Dude, I am so with you. If Lisa ever left me I would be SO screwed!
If it’s any consolation, your horrible night last night made for a really funny post this morning (at least for those of us who weren’t there to hear the endless crying).

CJ, I would love to tell you it gets easier… HAHA.
But oh how we love our children…And oh how we as imperfect men can’t live without the imperfect woman by our side.
Keep the faith brother…God is good.

Ahhh the joys or parenting.. Don’t want to burst your bubble.. but you will probably have more of them.
My one friend is a single dad of 3 and I have the greatest respect for him. I don’t know how he does it.

@Alyson » You need not worry, having one kid is WAY easy…you and J can take turns dealing with the madness….with two, you have no choice.
@Bryan » Flaming torches made out of snapping turtle heads!
@Valerie » two kids = 4x the madness!
@Brad » I’m glad my pain provided you some joy….
@CK » You mean it doesn’t get easier?!?!?! AHHHHHHH
@Adam » single dad of 3? What ages are they? I think I could handle older kids, unless you’re talking about teenage girls, then I’d probably never sleep….EVER

Shannon and I have already promised each other that we won’t die…this way neither one of us is left alone with a kid to raise. Morbid…yes. But that’s how we role in the Qualls’ house.

Being in the house during all of this, I would have to say #2 on the things you learned last night is definitely the lesson everyone should take home.
@GregQualls >> Good luck with that.

Amen to the points of the evening. I often felt like Tennyson was broken - all he did was vomit the first year. I will pray for peace for your family tonight.

I agree that it doesn’t always get easier…just louder. That goes for the screaming and the farting.

Isn’t it amazing though when you look at them. I mean really look at them and think wow it seems like yesterday you came home! I hear yah though (with only one) sometimes I would like to take a vacation with Bob (from what about Bob), a vacations from my problems. LOL

If I had that in my house I’d be a chain smoking, alcoholic. I think God knew what he was doing when we couldn’t have kids. More power to you. Praying for you too!

Hey, I say hang in there…..I had 5 kids you know and closer in age than yours. The day your mother was 6 years old the youngest of the 5 was 6 months and I made it through with at least part of my sanity still in tack in spit of the fact that your Grandpa, being in the military, was gone alot. Your mother’s tummy was so little that she could only take 2oz of formula and 2 hours later 2 more oz. If I tried to force her to take just a bit more, you never saw a baby throw up with such force.
So hang in there..And bear in mind that these babies don’t stay babies very long..There are many joys along the way as well as many trials and disappointments but I’d say all in all that the joys and good times far out weigh the bad times. Love Grandma S
