One Age Forever?

I have had one question rocking my brain the past few weeks.  It seems like a simple question with an impossible answer, but I’m going to ask you to give me one….

If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what would that age be (”age” being more of stage in life, but tied to an age)?

Here are some of my thoughts….

Being a baby would rock because you get to eat, sleep and poop all day; however, you can’t do anything on your own.  But then, you are a simple pure being, shielded from all the crap that goes on in the world.

I love the stage my daughter is in right now — extremely creative and free.  The world is a giant classroom with so much opportunity for learning; however, there is still a lot she is not able to do on her own.

High school was a blast for me.  Driving around with friends, no worries of the future (college, work, etc.) and always living in the present.  No real need for commitment to anything, but a willingness to experiment and exist.  The only issue here is that freedom only goes as far as one’s parents let it during the high school stage.

College was fun for me, but I didn’t go through college like most people.  I got married the middle of my sophomore year and did the school/working thing to make mortgage payments for the next 2.5 years.  The fun part of college for me was becoming a husband - and sex (yes, I said it - SEX…).

Here are some others…

Parents Age?

Working Stiff Age?

Empty Nester Age?

Retired Age?

Grandparent Age?

SO, before I give my answer in the comment section later today, how about you….What Age/Stage Would You Pick?

I would say 25. Still young, but old enough to get discounted car insurance.

Somewhere in my mid 20s - maybe 25 or 26. I loved the 20-somethings age group and I’ve told Lisa before that I wish I could have stayed in my 20s forever.

Although, that would be kinda weird sitting my grandkids on my lap when I’m 25…oh well. It would still be cool.

I am actually looking forward to my 30’s.. early 30’s I mean i still have a couple years till I hit that mark.. but my 20’s have been filled with so much stress.. I am kindof hoping 30’s will be a little more mellow.

this is tough. i wouldnt want to be any age without my kiddos. so. im loving the age my kids are at now…14 and, almost 12. brent and i will be 38 in a couple months and we are “mostly” ok with that. still ‘young’ and still healthy and energetic. so…im guessing - in a couple years - i will be loving the stage we’re all at. the kids will be even more independent - but still here (which is good for a mamas heart) and we’ll still be fairly young (no old jokes people) and ready for a new phase in life! im looking forward to it!

College would be up there for me… I would like to do a lot of it over again. There are pros and cons to each stage… being baby would top it all though. When you are a baby you don’t realize what the negatives are (at least I don’t remember any).

Its just like you said, eat, sleep, and poop. Theres actually a lot of similarities to being really old…

@Adam » I hope your 30’s will be more mellow for you as well, brother!

@Tam » 40 isn’t old in my book - especially since I’m getting closer to 40 every day….just not as fast as you are!

@Nick » I gotta say, your comments ALWAYS make me laugh!
